Catalina Island is located off the southern coast of the Dominican Republic and is also part of the protected areas of Cotubanama (formerly known as – Parque Nacional del Este.)  Boasting the title of one of the top 10 beaches of the Dominican Republic, it is a destination not to be missed by all beach lovers. 

 

This island is so impossibly colourful it is like a box of crayons gone mad. Lush green canopy, turquoise waters, curious sea life, a diver’s paradise. Tropical fish salute you, the island becons you, warm water welcomes you like an old friend.  Catalina Island is easy to love, difficult to leave. Stress falls away as you reconect with your loved ones.  Let the sand massage your feet, play to your heart’s content, or simply soak in the glorious sunshine.

A Diver's Paradise

Some of the best dive sites in the Dominican Republic lie beneath the waves in Catalina Island. Advanced divers will be exhilarated by the adrenaline coursing through their veins and descent into the deep blue along The Wall – a stunning 35 meter marvel of nature. This dive site lures divers from all over the island as it is a beautiful and unique. Fan corals wave a welcome as divers swim towards the ledge – where the ocean floor drops to over 35 metres/112 feet.   Revel in the thrill of flying over the wall into the pure blueness of the sea.  Black corals and sponges abound.  As you are free to choose your total depth, this dive site is a great experience for all levels from PADI Discover Scuba Divers to Advanced Open Water Divers.

 

If the underwater thrills of going on a deep dive is not your style yet you crave excitement, be sure to hike up the path to the cliff at the end of the peninsula and jump into the crystal blue ocean water.  Tropical fish will greet you as you splash in and join you for your refreshing swim back to the beach.

 

Or since you are on vacation after all, you can simply soak in the sun and revel in a slice of paradise.
